Talisker 2007 (bottled 2017) Amoroso Cask Finish - Distillers Edition Whisky
A special and multi-award winning Distillers Edition that is double matured in Amoroso wood. There's a real harmony in the bitter-sweet flavours, just as the sweet smokiness of Talisker begins to smooth away, not to pepper, but rather to rich, sweet and juicy fruit flavours - must be the Amoroso wood. Chestnut brown in colour with a sharp and focussed nose, and a rather sultana-like sweetness. The finish has deep cocoa notes, vanilla and a lingering, earthy peat flavour. An example malt showcasing the balance between sweet and dry, but the sweetness might just have the edge here.
